Celine Dion Announces The End Of Her ‘Celine’ Vegas Residency

Published: Monday 24th Sep 2018 by Sam

Celine Dion has been one of the most rejuvenating forces on the Las Vegas strip. However, as the age old adage goes, “all good things must come to an end.”

And for the 50 -year-old icon, its her Sin City residency.

Details below…

In an announcement made today, the singer revealed that the ‘Celine’ show (which played at Colosseum, Caesars Palace) will be coming to an end after eight years.

Speaking about the news, Dion said in a statement:

“I definitely have mixed emotions about this final run. Las Vegas has become my home and performing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace has been a big part of my life for the past two decades. It’s been an amazing experience and I’m so grateful to all the fans who have come to see us throughout the years. Every show we do at the Colosseum throughout this fall, and right up until the final one, will feel very special.”

Since kicking off in March 2011, the residency has grossed over $233 Million.

It’s Celine’s second concert series following ‘A New Day…’, which ran from 2003-2007. Hence, it’s not at all far fetched to expect another.

Pending news on that, the songbird is nesting in the studio and getting ready to hatch new music.

A lot of artists are using Las Vegas as a stomping ground & hopefully they don’t misuse it especially after Celine Dion has been there for year’s with her many many hits!!??

She has been there for forever, I know that this is bittersweet for her, her team, and most importantly her fans.

I’ve been wanting to see her without having to travel to Vegas. I hope she tours with the next album.

She has been touring Asia this summer and Europe last year apart from doing Vegas.

MONEY is on Mariah/Rod Stewart to Replace her. Mariah has a younger urban/gay crowd which spends money. Bet is on Mariah.

Mariah already has a show in Las Vegas

Though I love Mariah‘s catalogue more, she is by far not on Celine’s level when it comes to performances. She is stiff as a board and doesn’t even walk by herself anymore. Celine did always put on a great show, just watch her concerts online and you can see the difference. I love Mimi, but I wouldn’t pay to see her just standing there, while I would pay to see Celine just for the shows sake

It´s incredible the amount of constant work people like Celine or Mariah have been doing for decades. They basically have not stopped singing. And their songs weren´t easy. They have truly earned their legendary status.

That´s an amazing studio photo btw. I saw Deadpool 2 just yesterday for the first time and the moment the Celine song started it was kind of magical still. She cannot hit the notes with the same superpowerful nature but is still more special than 98% of people in mainstream. She can still do mainstream for people to admire.

She is the absolute queen of Vegas btw. Her success there by own will won´t be repeated probably. She went there when she was still selling albums like hot vegan cakes. The first run was unbeliebale at the time.

She won´t have trouble ending Vegas since she can keep doing worldwide tours again and again. People keep being here for her.
